Beyond CoE

What Do Engineers Do?

From environment to infrastructure, from bioengineering to outer space, product design, transportation, heat conduction, computer technology, all depend on engineers.

Engineers staff critical systems -- such as energy, transportation, information and medical technology.

Engineers design products for work and play. Engineers help heat our homes and cool our refrigerators.

They design roads and bridges and the cars that drive upon them.

They make your mobile phone smaller and smaller and its sound clearer and clearer.

New Students

Making the transition to college as a first time student, a transfer student, or a graduate student is always exciting. Georgia Tech has established a New Student Website that is designed to give all the information new students will need to plan an academic career at Georgia Tech.

Georgia Tech is committed to providing the necessary support services to assist students in their success at Georgia Tech. Resources, from assistance with introductory courses to help with personal circumstances, are available on campus. Key resources are shown here, but students will also find others via their specific school.

OMED students

OMED

The Office of Minority Educational Development (OMED) is responsible for the academic performance, retention, and development of minority students at Georgia Tech. OMED's programs provide students with the necessary “tools” to succeed in Georgia Tech's rigorous environment including tutoring, mentoring, networking, and academic workshops. Programs are available to help students academically and socially from freshmen to graduate students. While targeting minority students, OMED programs are beneficial and open to all Georgia Tech students.

Success @ Georgia Tech

Georgia Tech has created a new online resource called Success @ Georgia Tech to assist first year students with adapting to the culture, climate, and academics at Tech.

On this site, students find helpful links to sample tests, lectures, and class notes, and view videos of freshmen, faculty members, and teaching assistants discussing important strategies for first-year success.
