GT Engineering Explorations

Leonard Neely, BSCmpE ‘08

"I had the opportunity to work with EEO on the LEAD pilot engineering program as a counselor. The experience exceeded every expectation. I was able to increase high school student interest in engineering and technology and have one of the most rewarding summers of my college career. The students were not only diverse talented quick learners; they were also energetic, personable, and downright fun!"

Many students claim that they are more engaged in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematic (STEM) education when they see a purpose or social consciousness in the program. With this in mind, the Engineering Education Outreach office in the College of Engineering hosts GT Engineering Explorations (GTEE), an event that allows middle and high school students to get a taste of the different engineering disciplines offered at Georgia Tech.

This day is an exploration of how engineering impacts our communities and lives on a daily basis via information sessions, panels, lab tours, and demonstrations. GTEE is designed not only to explore the different engineering areas but also to get students excited about engineering.
