This company, a retail discount brokerage and investment banking business, has been a part of the New York Stock Exchange since 1967 and was founded by Muriel Siebert, the first woman to become a member of the Exchange, according to a news release. Siebert died in August.

“I am deeply honored to be named acting CEO of the company founded by Wall Street legend Muriel F. Siebert,” Shank said in the release.

She will not only be taking up her new role as acting CEO, but also continuing her role as president and CEO of the municipal finance firm Siebert Brandford Shank & Co., LLC, which she co-founded with Muriel F. Siebert and Napoleon Brandford in 1996, the release said.

Shank graduated from Georgia Tech with a B.S. in civil engineering and later received her MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, according to the release. Her assortment of accomplishments includes being voted one of the Top 50 Women in Wealth Management for 2010 by WealthManagerWeb.com and as one of the Top 25 Nonbank Women in Finance by U.S. Banker in 2009 and 2010.
