Garcia Receives International Award from European Society for Biomaterials
Andrés Garcia, the Rae S. and Frank H. Neely Chair and Regents’ Professor in the Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering, was recently selected as the recipient of the European Society for Biomaterials’ 2018 International Award.
Garcia’s research uses engineering, materials science and cell biology concepts to generate insights into the adhesive forces involved in cellular functions, as well as investigate the use of materials for tissue repair in regenerative medicine. Due to the far-ranging impact and influence of Garcia’s research, he will have the opportunity to lecture at a conference held by the European Society for Biomaterials, taking place in Maastricht, the Netherlands in September.
The International Award recognizes well-respected scientists who have been internationally recognized because of their major contributions to the field of biomaterials. Recipients of the award collaborate with the European scientific community throughout their career.
