Be a Commencement Volunteer!
Join the volunteer team to assist with this semester's ceremonies on Saturday, December 14.
Commencement would not be possible without the involvement and support of the College's faculty and staff.

Prepare to Volunteer
- Commencement Volunteer Training and McCamish Tour:
Date & Time: TBD
McCamish Pavilion- Volunteers will be informed of each role and its respective location at the venue the week of Commencement.
- This is an in-person training. The meeting agenda will be shared with volunteers after the second training.
- Volunteers are asked to park closest to the Benatar doors. Volunteers will meet inside the Benatar entrance.
- This training is optional but volunteers are encouraged to attend.
- Check emails and the Commencement website regularly.
- All assignments will be emailed to volunteers before the event.
- Event announcements will also be posted on this website.

Volunteer Positions
Volunteers will receive an email two weeks before Commencement weekend with their volunteer assignment. Assignment requests can be made upon signing up.
Court Movement Management
- Help guide students from their seats, on and off the stage, and then back to their seats.
- This volunteer shift is about two and a half hours long.
- Court management volunteers have the unique opportunity to witness graduates experience the moment they have been waiting for since their first day at Georgia Tech.
Interior and Exterior Guest Services
- Provide exceptional customer service to guests.
- Whether it's pointing guests to their seats, answering their questions, or handing out Commencement programs, these volunteers will assist our guests with a smile.
Graduate Entrance Directional Assistance
- Help manage graduate line traffic, make sure each graduate is wearing the correct regalia and has their GradPass.
Graduate Guest Services
- Stationed from the Zelnak Atrium along the path graduates will take to get to the court.
- Answering questions and manage lines.
GradPass Troubleshoot Table
- Assist a representative from the Office of Special Events and Protocol.
- Help graduates resolve any issues with their GradPass — a QR code needed to participate in Commencement — before the ceremony begins.
Graduate Seating Assistance
- Help students find where they need to sit for their ceremony and make sure that students are sitting when the ceremony begins.
Preshow Special Event Assistants
- Assist the Institute Communications Social Media team with the Commencement Pre-show.
- Duties may include finding graduates to be interviewed on the Commencement live stream.
ADA Seating Assistance
- Help guide guests who need accessible accommodations to their assigned ADA seating sections throughout the pavilion.
- These volunteers will be located in the stands before the ceremony begins.
Volunteer Room Assistance
- Help all volunteers get ready for their assigned volunteer shift.
- This includes assisting volunteers with putting on their headset, answering questions, and getting the room ready for the next ceremony.

What to Wear and Bring
- Business casual with comfortable shoes.
- White, gold, and navy are encouraged.
- Volunteers will receive a volunteer lanyard and a Commencement FAQ sheet.
- We ask that volunteers bring minimal personal items to keep the Volunteer Room organized for the event.

Volunteer Parking
- Commencement volunteer parking passes will be emailed the week of the event.
- Volunteers will need to print out the parking pass to place on their car's dash while volunteering.
- Email Sala Hanne if you need special accommodations regarding parking.
