Congratulations to Vladimir Tsukruk, professor in the School of Materials Science and Engineering, and Younan Xia, professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Georgia Tech and Emory, for being named to the 2014 class of American Chemical Society's (ACS) Fellows. ACS Fellows are nominated by their peers and selected for their outstanding achievements in and contributions to the sciences/profession and for providing excellent volunteer service to the ACS community.
The American Chemical Society has named 99 members as ACS Fellows. The new fellows will be feted at the society’s national meeting in San Francisco this August. ACS is the world's largest scientific society and the Fellows program was created in 2008 to recognize ACS members for outstanding achievements and contributions to science.
Tsukruk has conducted research in the field of fabrication and structural characterization of molecular films since 1987. He has extensive experience in organic and polymeric materials and molecular films from polymers. He is an expert in microstructural analysis of polymeric materials.
Xia is the Brock Family Chair and Georgia Research Alliance (GRA) Eminent Scholar in Nanomedicine. His current research centers on the development of new chemistry, physics, and technological applications of nanostructured materials – a novel class of materials with feature sizes <100 nm.
