Last month we sent out a survey to see what we could find out about the volunteer habits of the CoE staff and faculty. Here are the results.

Of the 55 people who replied to the survey (thank-you to those who did), 51 said they had volunteered at least once in the last three years. 88% of those volunteers felt their efforts made a difference, and a third of respondents said they'd be interested in a CoE Cares program that tracked volunteer hours.

According to the Corporation for National and Community Service 24.3% of Georgia residents volunteer, ranking us just 40th among the 50 states and Washington, D.C. In 2012 (the most recent year for which data is available) 1.84 million Georgians volunteered, providing 209.2 million hours of service (over 113 hours per volunteer). That works out to $4.6 billion of service contributed based on the national average of a volunteer's time being worth $22/hour.
