Every undergraduate engineering discipline at Georgia Tech is ranked fourth or higher on the U.S. News & World Report 2025 Best Colleges list released Sept. 24.

It’s the second time in four years each program is concurrently no lower than No. 4. The College of Engineering overall ranks fourth, and No. 2 among public universities.

For the 24th straight year, the H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering is the best undergraduate industrial engineering program in the nation. Civil engineering also returned to No. 1.

The bachelor’s programs in aerospace and mechanical engineering each remain at No. 2, joined this year by the biomedical engineering program. The School of Materials Science and Engineering jumps three positions in the new rankings to third among their peers. And, at No. 4 overall, computer engineering is No. 1 among public programs for the first time in history.

Engineering programs and individual discipline rankings are based solely on surveys of deans and senior faculty members at other universities. The U.S. News rankings are one indicator of the quality of an institution and can influence undergraduates, professors, prospective students, peer institutions, and the media.

Overall, Georgia Tech is tied at No. 33 nationally, the same position it occupied in the last edition of the Best Colleges rankings. Tech is ninth among public universities.
