U.S. News & World Report's World's Best Universities rankings based on the QS World University Rankings, identified Georgia Tech’s College of Engineering as the number 12 engineering university in the World in the 2009 edition. Georgia Tech followed the University of California-Berkeley as the number two ranked public technological institution. In addition, the National University of Singapore, where COE has a number of joint programs, was ranked 14th in the Times of London supplement.

Formula for Rankings

These updated 2009 World’s Best Universities rankings are based on data from the QS World
University Rankings, which were produced in association with QS Quacquarelli Symonds. QS Quacquarelli
Symonds, one of the world’s leading networks for careers and education, has been publishing
world rankings since 2004. The rankings were based on Peer Review Scores from the the responses
of more than 3,500 academic institution representatives around the world, and include such factors
as subject area rankings, academic peer review, faculty/student ratio, and citations per faculty member.
