Georgia Tech's Dr. Mark Prausnitz and Dr. Chris Jones were selected to receive faculty awards at this year's Faculty/Staff Honors Luncheon on April 19, 2011.
Dr. Prausnitz, also a professor in the School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, carries out research on biophysical methods of drug delivery, which employ microneedles, ultrasound, lasers, electric fields, heat, convective forces and other physical means to control the transport of drugs, proteins, genes and vaccines into and within the body. He will receive the 2011 GT Outstanding Achievement in Research Program Development Award for his contributions to his field of study.
Dr. Jones is a professor in the School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. His research interests are in the broad areas of materials design and synthesis, catalysis and adsorption. Specific emphases are placed on catalytic materials for energy applications, fine chemical and pharmaceutical applications, and on adsorbents for CO2 capture. Dr. Jones will receive the 2011 GT Outstanding Faculty Research Author Award for his research and writings in these areas.
