Biomedical Engineering professor Paul Benkeser has been appointed to the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology's Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC). Accreditation by the EAC assures that a program has met quality standards set by the profession. To employers, graduate schools, and licensure, certification, and registration boards, graduation from an accredited program signifies adequate preparation for entry into the profession. In fact, many of these groups require graduation from an accredited program as a minimum qualification.
Appointment the the EAC is a significant honor for Benkeser and for the Georgia Tech community. Benkeser joins Georgia Tech's Bill Wepfer (ME) and Joe Hughes (ECE), who currently serve as EAC members. Tech has set a world record as the only university to have three of its faculty serving on the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology EAC.
