
ISyE's Jack Lohmann has been chosen to receive the 2011 Global Award for Excellence in Engineering Education from the International Federation of Engineering Education Societies. As the current editor of the American Society for Engineering Education's (ASEE) Journal of Engineering Education (JEE), he has been credited with improving JEE to tier one status among research journals in both science and social studies indices. The award committee agreed that Lohmann's work "has had a clear impact on the profession worldwide," and he was specifically cited for contributing to faculty development through workshops on engineering education research.
Lohmann is currently the vice provost for Faculty and Academic Development and professor of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Georgia Tech. Dr. Lohmann earned his B.S.M.E. from Oklahoma State University and his M.S. and Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management at Stanford University. He is also a Fellow of ASEE, the Institute of Industrial Engineers, and the European Society of Engineering Education.
