
Nicoleta Serban has been selected to attend the National Academy of Engineering's 17th annual U.S. Frontiers of Engineering symposium. The participants will consist of engineers, of ages 30 to 45, that were nominated by fellow engineers and organizations for exceptional engineering research. The event will be help September 19-21, 2011 at Google headquarters in Mountain View, California. The symposium will examine additive manufacturing, engineering sustainable buildings, neuroprosthetics, and semantic processing.
Dr. Serban is an Assistant Professor in the H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial Engineering. She received her B.S. in Mathematics and an M.S. in Theoretical Statistics and Stochastic Processes from the University of Bucharest. She went on to earn her Ph.D. in Statistics at Carnegie Mellon University. Dr. Serban's research focuses on nonparametric statistical methods motivated by recent applications from proteomics and genomics.
