Tech Tower

Jeff Wu, Coca-Cola Chair in Engineering Statistics in the H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering, has been awarded the Einstein Chair Professorship, the highest honor for visitors from the Chinese Academy of Sciences.  The awards ceremony was held at the Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science, a Chinese Academy of Sciences national institute, in Beijing.  The Einstein Professor Program aims to enhance the training of strategic science and technology experts and talented senior scientific leaders, and to strengthen Chinese scientists' contacts and exchanges with top scientists throughout the world.

Wu earned his B.S. in Mathematics from National Taiwan University in 1971 and Ph.D. in Statistics from the University of California, Berkeley in 1976. Dr. Wu joined Georgia Tech in the summer of 2003. Dr. Wu’s research achievements cover mathematical statistics and industrial statistics theories, methods and applications.  His honors include membership in the National Academy of Engineering, Member of Academia Sinica, Committee of Presidents of Statistical Societies Presidents Award in 1987, honorary professor at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and an honorary doctor of mathematics at University of Waterloo.
