The Fuller E. Callaway Jr. Manufacturing Research Center (MARC) will be hosting a reception in celebration of the center’s 20th anniversary on Thursday, October 6, 2011. The Manufacturing Research Center opened its doors in 1991 with a $15-million grant from the State of Georgia and additional funding from manufacturing companies. The center was chartered as a unique partnership between Georgia Tech, state government, and industry with the purpose of bringing university researchers in contact with manufacturing problems US industry faces in keeping up with the demands of global competition.
The reception features speakers Reeves Callaway, founder of Callaway Cars, and Chris Cummiskey, Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Economic Development, as they introduce their strategic vision for the future of manufacturing. The event is scheduled to take place at 1:00 p.m. on the lawn between the MaRC and Love Buildings. The reception will include light refreshments, poster sessions, exhibits, and tours of the facility.
Today the center manages Georgia Tech resources that are allocated for the support and development of interdisciplinary manufacturing education, research, and service.
