Georgia Tech's Dr. Ali Adibi, professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, was named as a Fellow of the Optical Society of America (OSA), the nation's most prestigious society for Optics and Photonics. OSA has recognized Dr. Adibi as a Fellow for his numerous contributions to the field of integrated nanophotonics, lab-on-chip sensing, and volume holography.
The Society's mission is to promote the generation, application and archiving of knowledge in optics and photonics and to disseminate this knowledge worldwide. The purposes of the Society are scientific, technical and educational. OSA’s commitment to excellence and long-term learning is the driving force behind all its initiatives.
Adibi has received several prestigious awards, including the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE) from the White House, CAREER Award from the National Science Foundation (NSF), and Packard Fellowship from the David and Lucile Packard Foundation. Adibi has been the conference chair for several conferences, including the "Photonic Crystal Materials and Devices" conference in the Photonics West Meeting. He has served as a technical committee member for several conferences organized by IEEE, OSA, and The International Society for Optical Engineering (SPIE). He is a senior member of IEEE and a member of Sigma Xi, SPIE, and ASM. He is also the chair of the IEEE LEOS Atlanta Chapter.
