Congratulations to Brian Fronk (advisor, Srinivas Garimella) for being selected as one of the ASME Graduate Teaching Fellows for the 2011-12 academic year.  The Graduate Teaching Fellowship Program is a collaboration between ASME and mechanical engineering departments to encourage outstanding doctoral candidates in mechanical engineering education (and related engineering fields), particularly women and minorities. These fellowships are made possible with support from the ASME Foundation. Fellowship awards in the amount of $5,000 a year are made, for a maximum of two years. Fellows are selected/renewed annually by the ASME Board on Education. 

Congratulations to graduate student Hassan Masoud (advisor, Alexander Alexeev) for receiving the Materials Research Society Graduate Student Silver Award, which is intended to honor and encourage grad students whose academic achievements and current materials research display a high level of excellence and distinction.  Graduate standing in a recognized academic program in materials science, metallurgy, ceramics, or polymers; physics or chemistry; geology or mineral science; electrical, civil, mechanical, mining, or nuclear engineering; or other materials-related field are eligible.
