The College of Engineering at Georgia Tech is proud to announce that six faculty members/researchers have recently been elevated to Fellow status within the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the world’s largest professional association dedicated to advancing technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of humanity. IEEE and its members inspire a global community through IEEE's highly cited publications, conferences, technology standards, and professional and educational activities.

Yucel Altunbasak, Adjunct Professor in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, earned his Fellow status for "contributions to super-resolution imaging, color filter array interpolation, and error-resilient video communications." Magnus B. Egerstedt, also from ECE, received his rank for "contributions to hybrid and networked control, with applications in robotics." Yogendra Kumar Joshi of Mechanical Engineering was recognized for "contributions to microfabricated cooling devices." Mark Andrew Richards, an ECE Principal Research Engineer, earned his rank for "contributions in radar signal processing education." Erik I. Verriest and Guotong Zhou, both professors within ECE, were elected Fellows of IEEE for contributions to "delay systems and modeling time varying and nonlinear systems" and "the analysis of nonlinear signals and systems," respectively.

IEEE Fellow is a distinction reserved for select IEEE members whose extraordinary accomplishments in any of the IEEE fields of interest are deemed fitting of this prestigious grade elevation.
