Natasha Barbely, an Aerospace Engineering undergraduate student and a 2010 recipient of a Verical Flight Foundation (VFF) scholarship, was recently recognized by Georgia Tech as the 2011 College of Engineering Outstanding Undergraduate Researcher for her work with GTRI and NASA Ames.  Vertiflite, a magazine published by the American Helicopter Society, recently published a story recognizing this accomplishment.  The award identifies a College of Engineering student's exceptional research in their chosen field.

Natasha specializes in the field of aeroacoustics, in which she recently had the opportunity to study further while interning at the NASA Ames Research Center.  While at Tech, Natasha has been studying the PSU-WOPWOP code under the guidance of Professor Ahuja and Professor Sankar in the School of Aerospace Engineering.  Her interest in aeroacoustics has focused on trying to make military aircraft quieter - which improves their ability to avoid detection in covert situations. Ms. Barbely is also an environmental advocate and hopes that her aeroacoustics research will have an impact in reducing noise in affected communities.
