
Georgia Tech space systems activities include mission concept development, flight system and instrument design, hardware fabrication and testing, and mission operations. Space technologies under development at Georgia Tech include those associated with plasma physics, electric propulsion, formation flight, robotics, and entry, descent and landing. Space science investigations across campus include the composition, temperature, dynamic processes and radiation environment of planetary systems, investigation of extreme environments around black holes and neutron stars, imaging of rocky exosolar planets, gaining an understanding of dark energy, and understanding the formation and chemical evolution of molecules in the interstellar media, Kuiper Belt region, comets and on solar system bodies.
This one-day workshop will explore collaborative research and educational opportunities and assess the feasibility of establishing a Space Science , Technology and Research Institute on the Georgia Tech campus in Fall 2012. All members of the Georgia Tech community with an interest in space science and space technology are invited to attend.
