Tech Tower

This talk is free and open to all.

With close to 40 percent of the world's population living in water-stressed regions, the need for new technologies that will purify and reclaim brackish water, seawater, and other forms of wastewater is great.

In this talk, "Next Generation of Advanced Polymeric Materials and Systems for Sustainable Water Purification" Diallo will focus on his work combining materials synthesis and characterization with multiscale modeling and system building/testing to develop and optimize new water purification technologies.

Diallo holds dual appointments through the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) and the California Institute of Technology.

Diallo has worked on dendrimer-enhanced UF/MF systems, high-performance anion exchange and chelating resins and low-pressure and ion-selective NF/UF membranes. In this seminar, he will give an overview of his research program and talk about the ultimate goal of "developing the next generation of sustainable water purification technologies that will be needed to extract clean water from wastewater, brackish water, seawater and brines while recovering valuable metals, nutrients and energy."
