The Georgia Tech College of Engineering continues to be recognized as a top-five engineering school in the nation and an elite public institution according to rankings released Tuesday by U.S. News & World Report.

The College of Engineering is tied for fifth among bachelor’s programs at universities that offer doctoral degrees, as reported in the 2014 edition of the U.S. News publication called America’s Best Colleges. All of the programs offered by the College, the nation’s largest and most diverse engineering college, placed among the top 10 of their respective areas for the second consecutive year. 

The Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering is again No. 1 among similar schools while Tech's aerospace program is ranked second in its field. 

When compared to other public institutions the College of Engineering is tied for second with the University of Illinois - Urbana-Champaign while Tech's aerospace, biomedical engineering and industrial engineering all finishing first in their fields among public programs.

The College of Engineering received special recognition for its internships, the senior capstone design program, and the wealth of research opportunities available to undergraduates. 

“These rankings recognize the hard work of our faculty and staff in building a top ranked engineering program,” said Gary S. May, dean of engineering at Georgia Tech. “I am also pleased that U.S. News acknowledged our capstone design program, undergraduate research experience, and internship opportunities. These are all key components of engineering education at Tech and reflect our commitment to student success both on the campus and in the marketplace.”

- Aerospace Engineering – 2nd (1st Public)

- Biomedical Engineering – 4th (1st Public) 

- Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering –6th (3rd Public)

- Civil Engineering – 3rd (3rd Public)

- Computer Engineering – 6th (3rd Public)

- Electrical Engineering – 5th (3rd Public)

- Environmental Engineering – 3rd (2nd Public)

- Industrial and Systems Engineering – 1st (1st Public)

- Materials Science and Engineering – 4th (3rd Public)

- Mechanical Engineering – 3rd (2nd Public)
