Allison Beatty, from Peachtree City, Georgia, is one of almost 700 students who will receive their bachelor's degree during Georgia Tech's 250th commencement ceremony this weekend. We asked her five quick questions about her time at Tech and what she plans to do next.
 

What is your major and why did you choose it?

I am industrial engineering student, and I chose IE because I loved math, solving problems, and its the number one program in the world!
 

What do you plan to do after you get out?

When I graduate I will be working as a consultant for Microsoft.
 

What activities/clubs/organizations/research were you involved in while you were here?

I was involved with a STEM research program that worked with high school students in North Georgia on their science fair projects, and Grace Midtown's Housechurch.
 

What are some of your favorite memories of Tech?

My favorite memories at Tech were when our football team beat Georgia last year in Athens, and hearing President Obama speak when he came to campus.


What advice would you give to high school students and/or freshmen to get the most out of their time at Tech?

I would tell an incoming student to take advantage of all Georgia Tech offers. There are incredible opportunities for students to learn from the co-op/internship programs, the Invention Studio, world-class speakers and so much more.  By taking advantage of the many opportunities and building relationships with students and alumni, Georgia Tech will easily set you up for success. It will be a ton of work, but it's all worth it.
