College of Engineering Professor Russell Dupuis has been given the 2016 Award of Outstanding Achievement for Global SSL Development for Science and Technology. This award is presented by the International Solid State Lighting Alliance (ISA.) ISA’s mission is to accelerate and foster the development of the global solid state lighting industry in order to create a greener and more sustainable society.

Dupuis, Steve W. Chaddick Chair in Electro-Optics in Electrical and Computer Engineering, joined the Georgia Tech faculty in 2003. His current research focuses on the growth of III-V compound semiconductor devices by Metal-Organic Chemical Vapour Deposition, making him an important figure in the advancement of solid state lighting.

Since coming to Georgia Tech, he has also received the prestigious 2007 IEEE Edison Medal. Dupuis is also a member of the National Academy of Engineering.  In 2015 Dupuis won the Draper Prize for Engineering for his contributions to LED work.

His award will be presented this week at the ISA 2016 General Assembly in Beijing.
