GT Commencement is near – Friday and Saturday, May 5 & 6. College of Engineering will be tasked with filling volunteer spots with faculty and staff from each school to assist with Commencement duties. Since CoE always has the largest number of graduates, many volunteers will be needed to help with all  four ceremonies. Volunteering is a great way to show your support for students in one of the most important moments in their academic life.  

Staff can volunteer for Alignment duties and would assist the Registrar’s Office in lining up graduates prior to Commencement. You must arrive 90 minutes before ceremony start and then you’ll be dismissed after students exit for the ceremony.  

Faculty can volunteer for processional duties as well as alignment. The processional party will sit on the stage and represent their school during the bachelor’s ceremonies. Faculty must wear academic regalia for the event.  Regalia is available for rent @  www.commencement.gatech.edu/regalia-rental-form. If you are a faculty member and would like to see your students graduate, you volunteer for the processional party—you will sit on the stage. You would also help by working as an alignment volunteer if your schedule permits. Processional volunteers should arrive 1 hour prior to the ceremony start time.
